Alternative Tour Beirut (ATB) stands as a creative agency that places itself at the cross-roads of tourism, education, sustainability, and social change.
ATB was established in the summer of 2015 to provide a holistic, local and complex perspective on Beirut. Our mission is to disseminate knowledge about the city’s complex dimensions using experiences such as walking, learning, team building, networking, branding experiences, incentive programs amongst others. We present Beirut and other cities from an alternative lens and our experiences adapt to the continuous changes of the city.
We aim to support social change by promoting sustainable modes of transport, presenting green ways of living, giving a space and voice to those in the city that are often silenced, and promote local business by exposing less-known neighborhoods.
ALTERNATIVE WALKING TOUR
The 4-hour walking tour is a fascinating journey from East to West Beirut, unlayering 4 different neighborhoods. It recounts stories of various themes from the civil war, July 2006 war, gentrification, political-socio-economic developments, graffiti, among others. In doing so, the tour explores the depth of both Beirut’s past and present. The tour stops at various alternative and authentic spots for refreshments and snacks.

This service is developed to cater to students in schools of different ages. They are alternative learning experiences that motivate young minds outside of the classroom to adopt social and environmental change by covering topics such as the importance of public space, public transportation, coexistence, the concept of identity and highlighting the civil war, among others.
We use the outdoors coupled with team building activities/games. We currently offer these experiences in Beirut, Tyre, Rachmaya and Afqa but also have the ability to cater experiences tailored to specific needs.
